In common with most groups and in keeping with official guidelines Melton Folk have stopped the regular Wednesday evening meetings until further notice.
Zooming to Facebook in these Bad Times
During the restrictions of the current Covid-19 pandemic, some members and guests of Melton Folk meet via the Zoom conferencing app. Occasionally a meeting may be live-streamed to Facebook. These meetings are hosted by Adrian Kerr. Sound quality may leave a little to be desired but it is better than not meeting at all!
We Are ...
A bunch of enthusiastic folkies that meet weekly to share words and music in a very broad folk tradition.
In addition to the club regulars we warmly welcome many visitors, both performers and audience, to our club nights.
We also organise two
FREE FOLK FESTIVALS
in Melton Mowbray each year.
We encourage a wide variety of styles within our club, almost to the point of "All Music is Folk Music". From Medieval and Renaissance lute music and song, through folk song and dance of later centuries, to the more recent folk revival and singer/songwriter genre. We also encourage the reading and writing of poetry as an adjunct to the music. We embrace the various traditions of music of the British Isles and the Blues and Country music of the USA, along with less well known styles of the rest of the world.
The only limitation that we tend to hold to is that we are primarily an ACOUSTIC club.
Find Us …
We meet EVERY Wednesday at 7:30 to 10:30pm in The Tiger Room, upstairs at The Crown Inn
The club is very grateful to the management and staff of The Crown for providing a home base for us.
